Plans to build an innovative Healthy Living centre in the heart of New Cross Gate were given the go ahead by Council chiefs last week.
The New Deal for Communities (NDC) £37million backed scheme heralds the beginning of a project set to radically change the landscape of the area and bring a host of benefits to the community.
The concept combines health and cultural facilities with mixed-occupancy around a new town square, which will form one of the London Mayor's 100 public spaces.
Elizabeth Adongo Chair of the NDC said: I am absolutely thrilled with the news. Years of hard work and sheer commitment have gone into getting this concept to this stage. The decision is testament to the vision and talent of everyone that has worked to bring the project to fruition.
New Cross Gate is firmly on the map and this world class development along with a number of other NDC led projects has and will continue to enhance the profile of an area brimming with potential.
The scheme is a beacon of best practice in terms of sustainable living, local control of service delivery, partnership working, regeneration and architectural excellence.
