Ageing Well Shopping Project
14 November 2007
The Ageing Well Shopping Project has been created to help older residents in the North of Lewisham Borough to get regular shopping from one of the major supermarkets online and delivered to their door
Briefly, we will open an account for a client at either one of Tesco, Sainsbury or Waitrose/Ocado and call them regularly as agreed to place a shopping order for them.
The goods are delivered by the supermarket to their front door on a day and time to suit them and payment is made by them direct to the supermarket by debiting their bank debit card or credit card. Details of the bank card are held securely by the supermarket and only need to be input once. Age Concern Lewisham does not retain these details.
I should point out that there is no membership fee, no obligation to buy anything and no cancellation charge. In order to make things clearer, Tesco does not have a minimum order requirement, but Sainsbury requires a purchase of at least £25 and Waitrose/Ocado requires a minimum of £40 worth of groceries/goods to qualify for delivery.
All supermarkets charge a delivery fee (between £5 and £7 per delivery depending on supermarket and time and day of delivery) and this is paid by them at the same time as the order itself.
